The Research

Fiction may invent the story, but the world surrounding it has to feel real.

Water Water Everywhere... moves through science, technology, government, industry and events taking place across several countries. Much of the background to the novel was shaped by researching what existed, what was possible and what was actually happening at the time.

Science

Water, chemistry and biology

The science behind water treatment, contamination, laboratory investigation and the biological processes that underpin events within the story.

Technology

What was possible in 2013?

Technology develops quickly. Shaping the novel meant checking which systems, devices and methods were available at the time in which the story takes place.

Institutions

Government, security and industry

Real institutions and working environments provided the framework around many fictional events, from scientific organisations to government communications and industrial operations.

Real events

Weather, places and circumstances

Dates, weather, locations and contemporary events were checked against the period so that the fictional threads could unfold inside a recognisable real world.
