Helsinki
Helsinki should represent safety, distance and a chance to disappear. For Dmitri, things are not quite that simple.
Having to choose safety over wealth, and far from the world he knew, Dmitri makes Finland his home, believing that crossing a border may also have put danger behind him.
In the quiet surroundings of Helsinki, routines begin to return to some sort of normality. Historical events have already placed him in a web whose tentacles extend far beyond anything he suspects.
Dmitri
Dmitri was a wealthy Russian businessman whose fortune was built through petrochemicals, investment and share trading during a remarkable period of change.
He had never considered himself a revolutionary but had become increasingly critical of the direction in which Russia was moving. While still living there, he had attended demonstrations, spoken publicly about the treatment of protesters and expressed strong opposition to growing state interference in private life.
His willingness to voice those opinions had already given him reason to wonder how closely he was being watched — and, ultimately, whether remaining in Russia was still a risk he was prepared to take.
Making Helsinki his home was only one of several life-changing decisions Dmitri had made.
